• Agreement is inuninent over the future of the Bedford brand Marshall SPV is negotiating with General Motors over control of both the Bedford name in the UK and the worldwide Bedford spares operation.
These discussions come as Marshall prepares to launch its MT 13-16, a Perkins-powered 13tonne GVW 4x4 derived from the Bedford M-Type. The Cambridge-based firm's trucks are badged as Bedfords in certain overseas markets: outright purchase of the name would give Marshall a consistent international brand image.
The spares operation would be the most immediate moneyspinner, however, being central to the maintenance of thousands of Bedford, AWD and Marshall SPV trucks world-wide.
