EMOVAL business in Scotland is expanding, the Scottish Licensing Authority, was told in Glasgow last week. Crawford and Thomson, Ltd., • of Falkirk; successfully -applied for a new B-licensed vehicle of 3 tons unladen weight to supplement their existing two vehicles. A radius of 60 miles was requested for the work.
Mr. Thomas Crawford, a director, told the Authority that the firm's turnover for the last financial year ,was £54,419, and in the first six months of this year Was already £34,089. Removals often'needed two vans, said Mr. Crawford,' and failure to provide . the proper . service meant loss of home furnishing follow-up orders.. Also, in wet weather two vans could be drawn up back-tia-back with protective coverage between them to create a shelter for the furniture being
loaded or unloaded. .
Granting -the application, Mr. Quin remarked that it would have been helpful if they had brought a list of the business they had refused.
