THE Scottish Licensing Authority, Mr.
W. F. Quin, in Edinburgh last week adjourned an application—by William Dunn and Sons, of Plean, Stirlingshire, to carry miners' coal–Jor the applicant firm and the National Coal Board to discuss the position. It might be possible to make a grant in chambers, said • Mr. Quin. Dunn and Sons wanted to add to their B licence a vehicle of ,34 tons unladen weight to. work within a 25-mile radius.
Mr. A. Cluny, principal of Dunn's, said he wanted to carry bagged coal.
The only evidence that was givento Mr. Quin was a statement from the local branch of the National Union of "Mineworkers to the effect that they employed Dunn and Sons. Mr. Quin pointed out that the Board indicated that it would not support work beyond a 10-mile radius. No application had been made by Dunn and Sons to the N.C.B. for• them to handle miners' coal. Mr. Quin suggested that the firm should arrange a meeting with the N.C.B. to straighten out the position.
