Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A GRIMSBY OPERATOR is being accused of stonewalling drivers' calls for union recognition.

Chris Russell, T1:ansport & General Workers Union regional organiser, says MTL has failed to reply to its letters over several months:' I will be kind to them and say they have been obstructive. If they had performed as they have done over this application with one of their customers they would be out of business."

He adds that 19 of MTL's 26 drivers are already T&G mem bers. making the argument for recognition overwhelming.

However, MTL's transport manager John Brown says there is no problem with the recognition application, which is being dealt with by parent company Mill Transport of Doncaster.

MTL was set up two years ago and does contract work for food logistics specialist Frigoscandia.

The Central Arbitration Committee is expected to rule on the issue later this month unless the two sides reach agreement.
