THE ONLY SURE WAY to gain your Certificate of Professional Competence is to set aside a period of time in which to study the various subjects in the syllabus.

Some readers prefer to spread their studies over two or three months by using the popular RTCC home-study packs, which are available through Commercial Motor.

For those who are able to take two weeks away from work and prefer to concentrate their studies into a short period just before the examination, an intensive course is now available at various locations.

In conjunction with E.P. Training Services, of Esher, Surrey, Commercial Motor is able to offer 10-day courses in Esher, Gloucester, and Huddersfield to prepare for the Royal Society Examination to be held on Friday December 3, 1982.

The course dates are: Gloucester: November 8-12 and November 22-26, 1982; Esher, Surrey and Huddersfield, Yorkshire: November '15-19 and November 29-December 3, 1982.

Courses are arranged in two blocks of five days, Monday to Friday, with a week in between for revision and exam practice. The courses at Esher and Huddersfield culminate with the CPC exam on Friday December 3,1982.

Tuition is by experienced lecturers who have been engaged in CPC training since its inception and whose students have achieved a 98 per cent pass rate.

The courses have been approved by the Road Transport Industry Training Board for grant purposes. Residential hotel accommodation is available at each venue for those students who are unable to travel daily.

The fee for each course is £320 plus vat; £100 deposit is required on application and the balance will be invoiced before the course commences.

Applications must be received by November 1, 1982, at the latest, to enable students to be entered for the December examination.

Home-study packs

NEARLY 1,000 students have now used the RTCC home-study packs to prepare for the Royal Society of Arts examinations for the Certificates of Professional Competence.

An overall pass-rate of 90 per cent has been achieved, compared with the national average pass-rate of 52 per cent, Each RTCC student is allocated to an experienced tutor who is available by letter or phone for expert advice and guidance.

Every home-study pack contains self-assessment questions at the end of each section to enable students to monitor progress during their studies.

There are also two mock examinations, very similar to the actual RSA exam, for the students to attempt and send in to the course tutor for correction and assessment.

As a further aid to students, one-day seminars are held before each RSA examination for intensive revision and exam preparation. Details are available from your course tutor.

Entry forms for all CPC courses frequently appear in CM.
