as part of its attempt to slash the number of accidents on rural roads. An NFU spokesman says accidents are 11 times more likely on minor roads than on motorways because drivers, "do not give enough forethought and drive at high speed just as if they were still on motorw4s".
The insurer has launched a safety guide urging drivers to "be patient when they find themselves behind tractors, be prepared for tractors to turn into fields and farmyards and to indicate clearly and wet in advance of trying to overtake tractors".
The spokesman warns that this is a dangerous time of year.
