Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• ERF has extended its 16tonne GVW middleweight E6 4x2 rigid range to include 14 tonne, 15 tonne and — to meet the forthcoming legislative changes 17 tonne models Use of downrated front and rear springs gives the E6 14tonner a plated axle split of five and 9.2 tonnes.

On the 15-tonne model, only the front axle has been downrated to 5.5 tonnes, while the rear axle remains the same as for the original 16.26-tonne model at 10.17 tonnes.

For the introduction of 17tonne two-axle rigids, which are scheduled for next year, axle weights have been uprated to 6.5 and 10.5 tonnes.

While brake and tyre equipment is common to the three lighter models, the 17tonne E6 has larger front and rear Type 30 spring brake chambers, and the tyre size is increased from 11R-22.5 to 12R-22.5 for the drive axle.

All models are powered by the current E6 Cummins 6BTA-180 turbocharged and charge-cooled diesel engine, rated at 126kW, with an Eaton 4106 six-speed synchromesh gearbox and Rockwell axle. ERF's new E6 range is offered in six wheelbase options ranging between four and 6.5m.

The 17-tonne factory-built E6 dropframe chassis is also offered with the same driveline, but it is available with a choice of 5.1, 5.55 and 6m wheelbases.
