Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

haulage operators, engineering contractors and others as an aid to planning vehicle and machine maintenance and testing.

Two maintenance control charts available, providing for fleets of 25 and 50 vehicles, measure 48in. x 22in. and 48in. x 39in. respectively. The charts have a closely perforated surface which may be sub-divided into suitable columns and areas by the use of coloured flow-lines and captions. A card index at the left side of the chart contains detailed written records applicable to each vehicle while the next column indicates registration details and supplies location information. The third this week" section enables vehicles due for attention during the week to be pinpointed by coloured signals.

Various requirements relating to each vehicle are indicated under a date scale by coloured signals, each one of which is identified by a key at the bottom of the chart. In this way impatient phases in a vehicle's life are highlighted and an operator may see when a particular vehicle is due in for servicing, pre-test preparation, inspection, MoT test application date, MoT test date, road fund licence renewal date and major overhaul periods.

The scale used allows for 52 weeks' charting, and the records for each vehicle are on clear display to all those concerned with the administration of the fleet. Charts are also available for larger fleets.
