Dennis Bros. m.d. resigns

B. Stacey resigned last Friday as managing

director and from the board of Dennis Brothers Ltd., Guildford. A. F. Jones, company secretary, told CM this week that no comment would be made at present and that the appointment of a new managing director "might take some weeks-.

E. J. fEddy) Barber, for many years depot manager at Atlas Express Essex depot, has now taken up the appointment of southern area training officer for Atlas Express Ltd. His place at South Benfleet has been taken by Tony Mason, from Birmingham depot. Mr. Barber is chairman of the RHA public relations committee, deputy chairman of the executive committee of the Lorry Driver of the Year competition, and is well-known as a commentator at veteran vehicle rallies.

George Green, Oxford depot manager of National Carriers Ltd.. has been awarded a travelling fellowship by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. Mr. Green will be studying rail freight and associated road transport operations at selected places in Italy and France.

J. Philip Bailey has been appointed general manager of the trailer division of Scarnmell Lorries Ltd. Before joining Scammeil, Mr. Bailey was group production executive and fleet account executive with York Trailer Co. Ltd.

F. Potts (William Timpson has been re elected chairman of the technical committee of the Freight Transport Association.

P. H. R. Turner, immediate past chairman of the RHA and an assistant managing director of the Coast Lines Group, was entertained to a dinner by fellow directors of the Group before leaving the company to become director of freight planning with the National Freight corporation. Mr. Turner joined Thomas Allen Ltd. in 1932, became a director in 1947 and general manager in 1960. In 1964 he was appointed controller, road transport, of Coast Lines Ltd.. and joined the board of the parent company in 1966 as director, road transport. He became an assistant managing director of the Group earlier this year.
