Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by lain Sherriff • The Lorry Driver of the Year competition welcomes its newest recruit from the Principality. The professional haulier has, in the past, been criticized for his lack of interest in the competition. However, the new South Wales round, which was held last Sunday, was the product of the enthusiasm of a vast number of hauliers in the area. BRS, Hills, NCL, Ross Garages, and Robert Wynn were among those who contributed so much to the success of the event.

Not that the entry was confined to the professional haulier. There was a large contingent from the own-account sector and the Royal Air Force School of Mechanical Transport was also well represented.

An exceptionally low score was registered by Sgt. Cronin. His 36 points were three fewer than those of his Service colleague Cpl. Creamer.

In Class G P. Symonds of BRS Ltd. dropped only 68 points and had a clean sheet on the Highway Code test. In fact this test appeared to present little difficulty to most of the entrants. It was at test No. 3, kerb parking, that the points began to tumble and the committee's wise decision to award only 200 penalties for a correctly completed section saved a great deal of embarrassment.

After the run-off between the class winners, the first-ever champion of Wales emerged as W. Fennel of Hoover Ltd., and a worthy winner he proved to be. There were only seven classes at the event. In addition to A and B. there was no representation in Class F2. It was interesting to note that about 30 of the 102 entrants had travelled from Bristol.

Mr. E. Crocker, of BRS Ltd., tells me that the Welshmen will be heard at the final at Bramcote on September 7, when they hope to bring a large contingent of supporters. Before the event ended on Sunday, one coachload had been booked from the Swansea area.

This is a lively committee in South Wales and this round has a promising future.
