Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Elimination of cab doors, thus reducing complexity and providing very safe entry and egress for the driver, is the most striking feature of a new type of milk delivery vehicle announced this week by Smith's Delivery Vehicles Ltd.. Gateshead. Known as the Cabac, the vehicle is built on the Smith's Cornmutor chassis and has a cab entered through a rear opening reached from an 18in. gangway across the vehicle.

Within an overall length of 13ft. flin. a regular 28-crate layout has beim achieved, since the cab is only 3ft. 5in..from front to rear. Six panels, secured by roundhead bolts, comprise the cab and make unit replacement easy.

Rearward view for reversing is excellent, an added safety factor, but the rear of the cab can be closed if required by a patented Autoroll door which is a vertical adaptation of the roller-blind system. The actual closing flap is made from heavy-duty plastics. The cab itself is aluminium panelled on tubular steel framework.

The rear axle is a fully-floating ENV design uprated to 3 tons; this has Lockheed 12in. by 3m, brakes. The front Alford and Alder axle, rated at 34cwt, has 12in. by 2i-in. brakes and the turning circle is 32ft. The motor is fitted between the batteries and drives through a Layrub propshaft.

The controller is on the wheel arch to the right of the driver and a straight series resistance control system is used, with a Cableform contactor and a Kinetrol delay-action foot switch.
