council has taken another turn with a proposal for diverting all buses down side streets. If accepted, other cities could follow suit.
The plan consists of a one-way loop around the city centre, so that buses travel down the main street, Cornrnarket, in one direction only.
Thames Transit boss Harry Bltmdred said that the council should have concentrated its energy on cutting the number of private cars in the centre.
