Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• TDG operation Beck & Pollitzer has linked with Italian transport giant Castelletti Group to offer a road/rail service to Italy — it is hoped that the European operation will be used by other companies within the Transport Development Group.

Castelletti has 35 depots, 15 of which are linked by rail, and a 200-vehicle fleet. It will deliver goods including wine, household appliances and automotive products to Beck & Pollitzer's railhead at Lille in northern France for onward movement by road and sea to the UK.

"Our customers can deal directly with us for all their Italian distribution needs," says Paul Carvell, managing director of Beck & Pollitzer.

The move enables B&P to offer a European service without acquisition and the new link is expected to be used by TDG companies such as Albany, the wine distribution specialist, and Intercity Transport.
