• No reason for doubting the safety and general soundness of steel box girder bridges, provided they conform with the new rules laid down, has been found by a technical committee set up in December last.
This was stated by Mr Peter Walker, Secretary of State for the Environment, in a written Answer to a Parliamentary Question by Mr Jerry Wiggin in the House of Commons last week.
