LLIVERPOOL Corporation passenger transport committee has recommended the purchase of a further 130 Leyland Atlantean double-decker bus chassis at a total cost of £403,585, and the purchase of 130 MCW bodies at a total cost of £577,850.
Meanwhile, Oldham Corporation Transport has increased its order for Atlanteans to a total of 30 chassis, five of which will be fitted with 77-seat bodies by East Lancashire Coachbuilders Ltd. The bodywork for 13 of the Atlanteans has yet to be decided; the remainder will have Roe 77-seat bodies. Oldham is also purchasing four Leyland Panther Cuh single-decker chassis.
Coventry Corporation Transport hat placed a repeat order with Transport Vehicles (Daimler) Ltd., Coventry for another 22 Fleetline double-decker bur chassis at a total cost of £73,468 to be fitted with 76-seat bodies by East Lancashire Coachbuilders Ltd. to Coventry specification at a total cost of £86,592. Rotherham Corporation has also accepted tenders for nine Daimler chassis and three AEC Regent double-decker chassis, the latter to be fitted with Monocontrol transmission.
