Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

L'OLLOWING the modified grant of I higher fares to Trent Motor Traction Co. Ltd, and Barton Transport Ltd., reported last week in The Commercial Motor, the companies are waiting for a ruling from the East Midland Traffic Commissioners before they can implement higher fares on routes they share with other bus companies.

Traffic manager of Trent, Mr. John Clymo, said that the Commissioners had not stated which scale of charges should be used on routes shared with other companies whose applications for increased fares had been refused. It was felt by Trent that on shared routes on which Trent was the major operator, these operators should be permitted to increase fares in line with Trent.

Trent will introduce higher fares next Sunday, July 18, with the exception of those sections of the routes shared with The Midland General Omnibus Co. Ltd. and Mansfield District Traction Co. Ltd.
