Egyptian State Shipping Co at a South Coast port.

Garonor?

This high-security, computer-controlled comprehensive warehousing and distribution system at Greenford sounds very sophisticated—and it is. Such a system is far beyond the reach of aspiring newcomers. But there is one final aspect of Butler's operations which is within the reach of those with secure premises and ambition enough to go after this type of business.

In an area of hard-standing I found six Pengco demountable bodies belonging to Raleigh Industries. "These are Raleigh's mobile warehouses," explained Mr Hawkins "They are brought down here full, left in the yard for which we charge rental; when the goods inside have been distributed a full one comes in and the empty one is taken away."

At Butler's I saw the embryo of a Garonor-type operation. The French complex is larger and provides more services than Greenford, but it started in much the same way. In five years Butler's has come a long way—the estiblishment of a giant West London transfer terminal within another five years is well within the bounds of possibility.
