TWO MAJOR customers have returned to Southampton, following the end of the container dock dispute.
Lured back by a 25 per cent drop in rates SAECS and Trio will return by the beginning of April. Southampton hopes. The two consortia made up 75 per cent of the container traffic at the port before the dispute but both moved to different ports to avoid stoppage.
However, the Mayflower container terminal has been closed permanently because of the port's recent problems which have cost container hauliers in the Southampton area an estimated 15 per cent of their traffic.
