Leyland marketing

Leyland Vehicles, the organisation set up to manage sales service and worldwide marketing of Leyland commercial and passenger vehicles, has announced its new senior marketing team.

Ian Wilson is the sales and marketing director, UK opera tions. He was previously sales and marketing director of Leyland Vehicles' medium/ light division in Scotland.

Peter Woods has become sales and marketing director, European operations, and Bob Morris is responsible for overseas operations (outside the UK and Europe).

The sales and marketing services director is Barry Childs, and Charles Cotton is marketing strategy manager.

Barry Parkinson has been appointed chief engineer of the National Bus subsidiary Potteries Motor Traction.

He is at present assistant chief engineer at Bristol Omnibus and he takes up his new appointment on March 1. Mr Parkinson succeeds Robin Westbrook who is moving to, Midland Red as chief engineer.

Greater Manchester Transport has promoted Steve Manders to traffic superintendent of its Leigh district. He is now responsible for control of inspectors, platform staff and scheduling of services.

Mr Manders joined Greater Manchester Transport in 1974, previously having been with London Transport and London Country Bus Services.

The Dawson group has announced that Mike Williams is the new director of its rental division. Mr Williams is based at the company's headquarters in Leighton Buzzard.

Tom Cornish has joined the Freight Transport Association as assistant secretary of the South-Eastern region. He joins the FTA from the planning and transportation department of the Greater London Council.

Following the recent restructuring of the Crane Fruehauf group of companies, Alec Porter has been appointed the new director, branch operations.

He moved to the group in 1973 as service director and in his new position Mr Porter is responsible for the company's servicing and parts operation. Crane Fruehauf Holmes vehicle recovery operation and CF Insulation.

Jim Keirle is now sales manager of York Truck Equipment. Formerly sales development manager with York Trailers, he has been with the group for 10 years. As the company's sales manager. Mr Keirle is responsible for sales and marketing of the products of the 13 York Truck Equipment factories.

Freightliners has appointed two new directors to its board. Peter Allsebrook is managing director of Seeatic, the holding company of Truckline Ferries, while the other new director is Dr Stuart Timperley, a senior lecturer at the London Graduate School of Business Studies and a transport consultant.

David Scarrott has joined Edbro as sales executive for the southern area. He is responsible for sales in the southern home counties and south London.
