Most of us in transport thought that when the UK joined the EEC. it would mean that each country would be single and self-governing, but that we would share products and services to keep costs down. Now, of course, we have lost our independence to Brussels. • Take for instance my own employer, a small firm with 17 buses and coaches. At present we have five drivers off sick, and that is a lot to us. We can't provide our scheduled bus services at times, so we are losing our regular loyal passengers.

This is giving us a bad name. We drivers are willing to do the job, as before, on overtime, but the boss daren't let us. We have new coaches standing about going rusty instead of earning their keep and are now refusing all types of work, from little two-hour jobs to day-tours, because of the driving laws MAURICE NEWMAN.
