Did you notice how many of the heroic lorry-driver pickets could afford to smoke cigarettes at about 50p a packet? Did you, like me, wonder how they managed it on strike pay? Is it conceivable that they filched the money from the tax-free social security benefits that you and I, taxed to the eyebrows, provided for their starving families?
