Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN ORDER to reduce the number of accidents with timber pallets, the Health and Safety Executive has published a guide called Safety in the use of Timber Pallets. The guide attributes many such accidents to poor pallet design and construction, use of unsuitable or damaged pallets and bad handling.

Instructions for pallet management planning and use, and maintenance and inspection of pallets ar contained in the illustrated guide. Just one of the points stressed is that damaged pallets should not, as often happens, continue to be used. Better inspection procedures should reveal such damage and the pallets withdrawn for repair or destroyed.

The guide (Guidance Note PM 15) is available from HM Stationery Office, price 30p plus postage.
