ANEW type of automatic vehicle parking control was demonstrated in London on Tuesday. The system is the Parcoa, and is of American origin. the United Kingdom distributors being Parking Developments. Ltd., 2-4 Cranmer Road, London, S.W.9. A particular advantage of the system is that an attendant is not required, whilst coded cards can be employed to restrict use of the car park to authorized persons only.

The equipment consists basically of barriers whiel-ccan be raised to admit or release a vehicle to or from the park on the introduction of a card, token or coin into an appropriate machine, which can be situated at either the entrance or exit of the park. The cost of the equipment ranges from £600 to just over £2,000 and can be applied to a park with any number of entrances and exits,

An automatic capacity counter forms part of the equipment, and when all the available spaces are filled a Park Full " sign is illuminated. The system can be applied to open-air, underground, multi-storey or even roof-top parks.

LONDON TRANSPORT AT I.U.P.T. 'THREE officers of the London TransI port Executive, Mr. B. H. Harbour, Mr. R. M. Robbins and Mr. R. Postgate, are to present papers to the 34th international congress of the International Union of Public Transport to be held in Copenhagen from May 11-17 next.

Mr. Harbour, a member of the Executive, is to give a paper on the place of Metropolitan Railways in urban public transport. Mr. Robbins, who is chief commercial and public relations officer, is joint author of a paper on passenger fares. The other author will be Mr, Postgate, London Transport traffic auditor.
