A FINE service,depet was recently It opened in Warwick Road North, Manchester,' by the Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd.'. This is splendidly situated in the main artery leading into and out of the city for all South Lancashire, Cbes)-iire, North Wales, etc., and is on the corner of what will shortly he the main entrance to Trafford Park, a large industrial centre of phenomenal growth.

Built upon what was originally waste ground, with an area of approximately 12,000 sq.. yds., the depot at present con.• Aists of two large bays measuring 135 ft. by 90 it. The roof, which is of the usual saw-tooth pattern, is exceptionally well glazied, the northern exposures being entirely covered with patent glazing, and in the case of the south, one section only is made up with the same pattern glazing.

Particular attention has been paid to the internal artificial lighting, and in addition to the usual bench fittings, the two bays have baen sectionalized and liberally supplied with hanging pendants of 200 and 300 watt lamps, at a height of approximately 20 ft. above floor level, Holophane fittings being employed throughout.

The main buildings are subclivideAl into a reception yard, stares department, and repair department. The reception yard contains a 1,000-gallon underground petrol tank with a self-registering b-gallon pump, the whole outfit being constructed and fitted sip by the AngloAmerican Oil Co., Ltd.

Convenient washing arrangements are provided by an overhead hose with swinging arm. Mere is also a garage crane to lift 30 cwt., and a smith's forge.

The stores department. is partitioned off by expanded metal and fitted up with the. orthodox steel bins. From £9,000 to 1:2,000 worth of spares are always kept in stock, and spare parts are obtainable for all models from the early two. cylinder Albion to the latest machine.

As regards the repair department, all minor repairs are attended to in the reception yard, but complicated ones are 4ealt with in,thiS department by a staff of fully qualified mechanics. Nothing is actually manufactured at the depot, and, therefore, only a few small but necessary machines are employed, these including a lathe, two drilling machines, a press, and a wet grinding stone. also in each bay there are two overhead cranes .with e capacity of two tons. Power for driving the machines is supplied by a:10 h.p. motor, current for Which is obtained from the Stretford TJ.D.C. generating station. Considerable foresight has been shown in the construction of the -boiler house with regard to future extensions, • and the heating is by radiators and pipes.
