NOW THAT travel to the moon has become humdrum, Mars has got in on the act. September sees the launch of a campaign to sell both Mars bars and coach travel by National Express and Scottish Citylink.
Anyone who collects seven Mars tokens and attaches them to special leaflets will be entitled, on buying a full-fare coach ticket, to take a companion free.
The beneficiary, you will observe, is not the confectionery consumer who has risked waistline and teeth and paid through the mouth for the cause, but someone who has done nothing to deserve the prize. This is the kind of thing that breeds Communism and Marx bars, and I call on Militant Tendency to act in the name of social justice.
