Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

PLANS are being prepared to restructure the Scottish Bus Group to prepare for deregulation of local bus services next year.

No details are yet available, but an announcement is expected soon, perhaps as early as the end of this month, once staff have been officially informed.

SBG chairman Ian Irwin has already disclosed that the group is well advanced with plans to help it develop its operations in a more competitive environment, and it appears that this could go as far as to divide most of the seven operating companies into smaller units matched closer to regional council boundaries.

It is also suggested that indi v id u a I depots will be treated as autonomous profit centres, with managers given responsibility for meeting financial targets.

On the White Paper on Buses, the Government has excluded SBG from privatisation proposals largely on account of its already successful financial performance.
