IN ADDITION to the recently announced Viking 'E' range of suspension seats, UOP Bostrom (UK) Ltd (stand 283) are exhibiting two improved designs. One, for vehicles with tilt cabs, is the Viking 540 suspension seat introduced here for the first time. The design is a marriage between the Viking 500 suspension mechanism and the Viking 400 seat section, and the backrest folds down to suit tilt cabs. Also to be exhibited for he first time are the Viking 300'E' and liking 301'E" hydraulically damped suspension seats.

Britax-Excelsior (stand 185) are showing their new Fogbeater rear lamp which has a 21-watt bulb. Britax claim he lamp gives approximately three imes as much power as ordinary rear ighting. The lamp, which costs £2.80, las a tough plastic red lens and is ust-proof. Also on show are the new ;uper-slim spot and fog lamps which ire available in either quartz halogen or ire-focus versions. Both types 'are nanufactured from stainless steel and lave rust-proof shells and rims.

Another new Britax product which iIl be on show is the commercial ehicle single-handed seat belt lcorporating a buckle that has positive )ck and instant release mechanism. Davies Magnet Works Ltd in onjunction with Adrolic Engineering :ompany Ltd (stand 188) are stroducing a new design of fifth-wheel oupling in two basic forms: a eavy-duty fabricated unit rated for ross load vehicles up to 45 tons and onforming to the fixings stipulated by se Continental DIN standard, and a ghter fabricated version with the same scking system rated for small .smi-trailers up to gvw loadings of 10 The new Mono-Lock coupling uses ie principle of a single locking hitch

operated in conjunction with a parallel locking bar so placed that the contact points, with the hitch in the closed position, allow all tractive and braking pressures exerted by the trailer kingpin to be transmitted directly to the body of the fifth wheel without the kingpin itself contacting the main plate, which would otherWise result in frictional We Sr.

A , range of new products from Flexible Lamps Ltd (stand 212) is on show, including fog and rear-guard lamps, a heavy-duty corrosion-resistant flood lamp, a side marker lamp complete with side-facing amber reflector, stop and twin tail and number plate illumination unit and a 12-way junction box.

Marchal Distributors Ltd (stand 261) are showing their latest lighting equipment for both' goods and passenger vehicles. Of particular interest will be their 7 in dipping quartz iodine headlamp conversion unit (39568TG). It provides up to 72,000 candlepower compared with 37,000 op from a good quality non-iodine headlamp.

At the Show for the first time is Package Control Ltd (stand 254) who are showing the entire Load-Lock cargo control range including cargo control tracks in both mild steel and high tensile steel, a variety of nylon and terylene webbing straps, steel shoring poles and the second decking equipment which is used in box vehicles and trailers. Reynolds tiOUghton Ltd (stand 126) are showing their recently introduced Lit-A-Skip refuse collecting system which, it is claimed, enables one man to clear filled containers in a fraction of the normal time. This system will handle all standard 1, 2 and 4 cu.yd refuse containers.

A new range of steel refuse containers for the Lit-A-Skip sytem will also be on show. This stand is on the ground floor.

Tecalemit (Engineering) Ltd (stand 269) is introducing its new Airdromic mark 3 lubrication system. While this retains some of the features of its predecessor, the pump has been redesigned in a lighter, more compact case to make chassis fitting easier.

The Airdromic mark 3 system is completely automatic. Operation commences with vehicle movement and ceases only when the vehicle stops. Apart from the piping the system comprises only four major units — the reservoir, the re-designed pump assembly, a safety valve, and a new air control unit. Driven from the vehicle gearbox, this has been designed to incorporate a standard air proportioning unit, available with a full range of end fittings designed for gearboxes of all British manufactured vehicles. There are separate ranges for Continental and American. vehicles as well as cable-driven versions for special vehicle applications.

Joseph Lucas will be displaying their new 11 in FP1100 circular headlamp. This is the world's largest headlamp using a reflector and single light source (CM. September 1). It is claimed that the illumination values at 150 ft on the nearside kerb are twice those of existing systems. The replaceable bulb is available either as 24v, 55/50 watt rating or 12v, 45/40 watt rating.
