Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I HEAR that Bonallack's invitation golf meeting at Thorndon Park last Friday attracted operators and suppliers from all over the country. Beaming still is R. Y. Parkinson, of Ribblesdale Cement Co.: he did a hole in one and collected a special prize.

One first-hand report: "My efforts to drive over the lake at the third hole under the interested scrutiny of English amateur champion Michael Bonallack—who was on the 17th fairway— produced three consecutive splashes before I was induced to move on. . .."

Results of the 27-hole aggregate competition were: J. G. Sagar (Engert and Rolfe Ltd.) and F. L. Lodge (Havering Borough, London), 8 up, 1; A. Barron (Barron, Rowles and Co.) and J. G. Woodman (Woodman, Matthew and Co.), 7 up, 2; R. Y. Parkinson and J. Glover (both Ribblesdale Cement Co. Ltd.), 7 up, 3.
