Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Lubrication Equipment Changes

I MPROVEMENTS in the Lubay cation equipment made by Layeock Engineering, Ltd., Victoria Works, Millhouses, Sheffield, 8, include new pumps, hose reels and oil guns. Externally there is no change in the appearance of the Lubay installations. The equipment can still be supplied with standard panels in various colours, oil meters can be fitted as required and -for illuminated display Plexiglass panel can be incorporated.

Both oil and grease pumps have been redesigned and embody several new features designed to provide greater efficiency with less attention. The major change is the introduction to the pneumatic motor of a special shuttle valve which directs the inlet and outlet of the compressed air alternately above and below the air piston. The pneumatic motor unit is identical for both oil and grease pumps, but although basically the same. the pump sections differ.

Delivery at the nozzle in the ease of the oil pump is 10 pints of engine oil per minute at 100 p.s.i. air pressure. The new grease pump can handle all types of greases, but for heavy fibrous types a follower plate, which can be supplied, is recommended. The redesigned oil gun has clean lines and its balanced pressure valve, which is trigger operated, gives a controlled flow to enable oil to be metered positively and in exact quantities. The nozzle swivels to enable the gun to reach awkward positions.

Constant-torque reeling springs are incorporated in the new Laycock hose reel design. These provide good retraction of the hose and maintain an even tension on the hose from the time that it starts its travel until it is fully extended.

In general the hose reel is the same design as previous Lubay equipment, incorporating stops which permit the hose to be arrested at four positions in each revolution of the reel. A further pull on the hose trips the stop and allows the hose to retract smoothly.

Cutting and Welding Torch .

A NEW type of blowpipe is now I—I available from Suffolk Iron Foundry (1920), Ltd., Sifbronze Works, Stowmarket, which by a simple change of nozzle can be converted from a cutting torch into a welding torch. Claimed to be the only torch of its type available in Britain, it does not require any conversion at the bottom of the shank, and in addition back-firing is eliminated.

Called the Double Duty Demon, the torch weighs only 1* lb., and will cut sheet metal and steel plate up to 2-in. thick, and can weld steel up to 1-in. thick.

Three welding and tWo cutting nozzles are supplied with the torch and these, it is said. will handle most of the requirements of welding and cutting.

Plastics Publications THREE new publications issued by 1 Polypeneo, Ltd., Welwyn Garden City, Herts, deal with plastics materials produced by the concern and known by the trade names of Fluorosint, Nylatron GS. and Nylaflow hose.

Fluorosint is a reinforced t.f.e. claimed to offer operational advantages over conventional p.t.f.e. in its performance at elevated temperatures, in the achievement of closer dimensional tolerances in moulded parts and in suPerior bearing and wear characteristics. This material is available in finished

moulded parts up to 3 sq. in. in crosssection, by 2 in. in length, and in semifinished shapes for subsequent machining. Nylatron GS. is a molybdenumdisulphide filled nylon, said to give superior mechanical and .bearing properties whilst maintaining the electrical and chemical characteristics of nylon. Higher resistance to wear, heat, and 'deformation under load are claimed for the product Which is available as stock shapes or as Moulding compound.

Nylaflow is a flexible high-pressure hose of all-bonded construction with a nylon inner core. Applications given are hydraulic, pneumatic fuel lubrication, solvent or hot paint lines.

Finance Details

ANEW illustrated brochure has been issued by United Dominions Trust to describe the range of commercial and industrial purposes for which the Group provides finance in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth. Details of the capital structure and financial history of the con-many are also given.

Copies of the brochure can be obtained from the Publicity Department, United Dominions Trust, Ltd., 51 Eastcheap. London. E.C'.3.

Improved Windows THE latest version of the Beclawat passenger vehicle window, the Boreas Mark i1l Tipping Ventilator Window, incorporates a number a new features.

Special side springs give a firm and positive action when opening or closing the tipping panel, eliminating rattle in the open position, and ensuring positive closing of the spring-loaded combined operating and locking handle when in the shut position.

There is also provision for adjustment of the locking catch when this is necessary after the windows have " bedded down" in service.
