eedes-Benz, Ltd.' 37, Davies Street, Grosvenor Square, London, W.1, has marketed 5-ton and 10-ton vehicles equipped with crude-oil engines of 80 h.p. A newcomer from the same factory is now being listed ; the compression-ignition engine of this will be on view at the Show, but we understand that the chassis will not be available for display. The pay load is 3i tons. The price for this vehicle is not yet fixed.

Other Mercedes-Benz models which are equipped with Diesel engines remain unchanged ; all have the same output of 80 blip. Two are of 5 tons capacity, namely, the L5 with a straight chassis, four-speed gearbox and a 15-ft. wheelbase, which is sold at £1,415 without tyres, and the lowloading version, the N5, with a 20-ft. wheelbase, at £1,455. The N56 is the 10-ton she-wheeler with a low-loading chassis having a wheelbase of 23 ft. 4 ins. This was described in a recent issue of this journal. It is priced at £1,775, without tyres. A shorter edition, the NK65 has a wheelbase of 19 ft. and is also priced at £1,775.

For passenger or goods service there are three principal types of MercedosBenz chassis with petrol engines ; these have been modified in detail. The Ni has a capacity of 1 ton 15 cwt., or can be equipped for service with 18

20 seater bodies. The engine has sixcylinders and develops 50 h.p. The wheelbase is 12 ft. 4 ins., the gearbox provides four forward speeds and the chassis sells for £580 complete with seven 32-in. by 6-in. tyres.

Modifications have been effeeted to the back axle of the N46 chassis, which is designed for 21-ton loads or 20-24seater bodies. The six-cylinderecl engine develops 55 h.p. and drives through a four-speed 'gearbox, The wheelbase is 13 ft. 3 ins., and the price, with seven 32-in. by 6-in. tyres, is 1675. Either of two engines can be fitted to the N2 chassis, which is designed to carry 5 tons 10 cwt., or to serve as the basis for 30-seater vehicles. Both are sixcylindered units ; One develoPs 70 h.p. -and the other 100 h.p. With the former the chassis costs £1,125, or with the latter £1,175. The wheelbase is 19 ft.

It will be seen that a comprehensive range of these chassis is offered.
