I HAVE just completed the Trucking Britain Out Of Recession survey regarding the 50mph initiative. Although I am now retired (as MD of MultiServ Logistics), I have in the past been involved in raising the profile of this issue at government level – albeit without success!
I ran a fleet of 200 44-tonners, a lot of the time on the A49 – a notorious A-class road that, for safety reasons, would benefit from a change in the law governing maximum speeds for LGVs. I received letters from government rejecting the proposal some years ago and I fear this is what will happen today. But I am willing to offer any help or advice I can.
