The volume of traffic using Hungary's north-western border crossings is up this year, at some places by more than 10%, compared with 1985. In July 10,000 lorries crossed at Hegyeshalom on the Austrian border, and almost 3,000 went through one of the two checkpoints at Sopron. Vamosszabadi on the Slovakian border had a record 10,000 during July and Rajka more than 7,000.
