• 'I'he Lex Group has established a new company called Lex Van Contracts which will specialise in the contract hire of vans.
The new company fits between the two other vehicle contract hire companies in the Lex Group; Lex Vehicle Leasing, which specialises in cars, and Transtleet, which specialises in trucks.
Tony Jones, general manager of the new company, claims that Lex Van Contracts will be able to offer a better service and more competitive rates than conventional vehicle leasing companies with no specialisation in the van market.
E Lex decided to establish a specialised company for the van market after a survey by Makrotest Research showed a 37% increase in sales since 1981, the greatest increase for any vehicle type.
At present, contract hire accounts for 5% of fleet van sales.
