The wheel studs are tightened to a higher torque, so giving a higher surface pressure between the wheel and the hub.
By incorporating hub centring, DAF claims that the load bearing, braking and acceleration forces are transmitted directly from the hub to the wheel and not via the wheel studs.
DAF also claims that the design gives less risk of distortion of the central wheel and stud holes.
