Representatives of 52 organizations attended the' meeting. They included the municipal bus undertakings of Birmingham, West Bromwich, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Coventry, Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., private coach operators, British Railways, and trade unions. Mr. W. P. James, chairman of the West Midland Traffic Commissioners, was also present.

Aid. H. Walton, chairman of Birmingham Transport Committee, said afterwards: "Except for minor matters that are capable of local adjustment, the services provided are as satisfactory as possible." He added that no evidence had been produced of inefficiency with the existing resources. Many of the difficulties that had been experienced were the result of staff shortages and post-war conditions. All the representatives had to report back to their organizations and the outcome would have to be awaited..

C LICENCE WOULD SERVE AFTER being told by the Western Licensing Authority that he could serve neighbouring farmers under C licence. Mr. I. Hayes, farmer, Dunkerton, near Bath, withdrew his application for a B licence for a vehicle to carry attested cattle and sheep within 50 miles, and to Reading and Exeter markets. Mr. Hayes said that he used his vehicle at present under a farmer's licence and that there were many occasions when neighbour* fariners wished him to carry their animals.
