Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE WEIGHT threshold at which Special Types of trailer are exempt from the legal requirement to have anti-spray equipment has been lowered from 75 to 46 tonnes.

Commentators said the weight should be lower and the Department of Transport has responded.

A trailer does not need anti-spray equipment if it forms part of an articulated vehicle or part of a combination of vehicles having, in either case, a total laden weight exceeding 46,000kg.

Copies of the amending order, FL 1985 No.745, The Motor (Authorisation of Special Types) (Amendment) Order 1985, are available from HM Stationery Office and some booksellers.
