Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FUEL TAX increases will increase costs, the Freight Transport Association has told the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Prices had already rocketed because of the fuel shortage, said the Association and some members had already been charged over -E1 a gallon wholesale.

Differential tax rates on fuel should benefit the diesel user at the expense of the petrol user, said FTA.

It would welcome Government incentives for operators to change from petrol to diesel-engined vehicles because diesel engines are 20 per cent more efficient..

If the rate of duty on dery was dropped to 30p a gallon, industry would benefit to the tune of about £50m a year at a time when high street prices would be adversely affected by increased transport costs, said FTA in a pre-Budget plea.
