Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TE motor exhibits at the Three Counties Agricultural Show, which opened at Gloucester on Tuesday, compared well in numbers with other classes of machinery, but a large section of makers was not represented. The Ford in its various forms of lorry, tractor and car was most conspicuous in point of numbers, with the Morris next.

Only three manufacturers had direct representation, namely, S. I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., A. Harper, Sons and Bean, Ltd., and the International Harvester Co. of Gt. Britain, Ltd.

The exhibit of J. I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., was interesting, and took the form of a 25 h.p. 30-cwt. subsidy-type Al lorry with open-sided body and tilt cover suitable for the rapid transport of farm and dairy produce and livestock, and mounted on similarchassis a 20seated Durbar single-deck bus. There was a foxhound van on a similar chassis suitable for carrying foxhounds, livestock and general produce. A. Harper, Sons and Bean, Ltd., exhibited a 25cwt. lorry, a van, and a small coach, whilst the International Harvester Co. showed a 20-seater bus together with the International Junior farm tractor and the McCormick-Deering tractor.

Among the agents there was a good show of Fords by Mr. R. P. Ravenshill, of Hereford, including vans, lorries, and a Ford lorry with enclosed English body. This was quite an interesting exhibit. Messrs. P. V. Taylor and Co., Gloucester, had a good serviceable Ford lorry fitted with cattle rails, and an improved model Ford touring car fitted with interchangeable well-bottom lorry body.

The Victory Motor Co., of Cheltenham, also had a good display of Fords.

Mr. F. W. Chambers, of Gloucester, had on his stand a Leyland 50-cwt. chassis fitted with a special miller's body with sliding tilt to facilitate loading, and a Trojan parcelvan.

,There was a number of tractor exhibits representing the Fordson and the International Junior makes, mostly in the hands of agents.

A very noticeable point with regard to recent shows is the almost complete absence of steam engines, portable and traction, and of steam tractors. The solitary representative of this branch of the industry at Gloucester was Marshall's of Gainsborough, and they had no vehicle there, only an 8 hp. steam road roller. Messrs. Badham and Co., Gloucester, exhibited motor lawn mowers.

A combined stand was arranged by Stretton's Garage, Ltd., Gloucester ; Wicliffe Motor Co., Stroud and Cheltenham; Bridges Garages, Cirencester ; Watts (Factors), Lydney ; and Cheltenham Car Mart, representing Morris wares.
