Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

On Friday morning a message was posted on TruckNet UK regarding one of the forum's longstanding members. Andrew Gormanly, known on TruckNet as Dratsabasti, had been involved in an accident in his truck last Thursday and taken to hospital. Tragically, Andy died of his injuries on Saturday evening.

He had been a member of TruckNet UK for many years. His contributions to the online community were always helpful, informative and knowledgeable. He was passionate about our industry and gave his time freely to help other drivers. To that end, he was heavily involved in the Professional Drivers Association (PDA) and active on many of the driver forums throughout the web.

A thread for memories of Andy and messages of condolence has been opened on TruckNet UK. He will be sorely missed.

This incident has led other drivers to make a few important points. Pat Nicholson of the FDA let us know that there had been difficulties in the authorities contacting Andy's Immediate family due to next-of-kin records not being up to date and/or not easily found.

This may have led to his family losing valuable time with him after the accident. It only takes seconds to ensure employers have up-to-date records of drivers' families and is something that should be regularly checked.

One driver has suggested the ICE (In Case of Emergency) system for mobile phones, in which a contact number is stored in the phone memory under the ICE name. This enables authorities to contact the right person quickly and easily.

Another driver who was recently the first at the scene of a different incident asks what the appropriate actions to take are.

He got some good advice from other members of the forum most importantly, to take a first aid course.

One suggestion to come out of this is that the Driver CPC that will be with us soon should include a compulsory first aid training module. Perhaps then it won't be, as many of you consider it to be, a complete waste of time and money — it may even save someone's life,
