NEW COMMERCIAL vehicle registrations last year were six per cent higher than in 1981, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Registrations rose from 217,812 to 231,014, although this is well down on 1980's 266,219 and 1979's record 300,565. Ford was top seller, although Bedford beat it into second place in the over-3.5 tonne sector.
