Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• ERF's E14-365 tractive unit, equipped with the yet-tobe-officially-launched revised Super E Cummins 14-litre engine, will be available "as of January 1989" according to the Sandbach-based truck builder.

The Cummins E365 engine has a nett installed rating of 254kW (340hp), and a peak torque of 1,539Nm (1,174 lbft) in the E series artic. It forms part of what Cummins is calling its "Phase 21/2" revised 14-litre engine range which is not due to be revealed until early next year (CM 3 November).

ERF, however, has already jumped the gun with its E365 tractor, which made its debut at the Birmingham Motor Show in October, causing no little embarrassment to the engine builder.

ERF says that the E365 will be available as either a 4 x2, or twin-steer tractor, with the Eaton Twin Splitter gearbox as standard. The Cummins E365 engine will replace the existing E350 power unit offered in the E Series. Price for a typical

sleeper cab E14-365 two-axIt tractor will be 239,950.

El It now looks likely that tlu twin-steer version of Seddon Atkinson's Strato tractive uni will make its debut at the IRTE show at Solihull next year, rather than at Tipcon in May.
