• Bristol-based Peter Maughan Transport appear& at disciplinary proceedings b( fore North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority Brian II( net last week following complaints from local residents ti it was not abiding by environ mental conditions imposed oi its Bradford depot.
The company holds a licen in the North East for 12 veh des and four trailers, with tt operating centres in Bradfon at Toftshaw Lane and at the Neville Street premises of Hepworth & Grandage.
Horner said that he had a letter from a resident of Id shaw Lane alleging that the time restrictions which had been placed on vehicles ente ing and leaving the Toftshaw Lane premises had been breached 24 times in March.
Traffic examiner Neil Stua said that he had examined th company's tachograph charts for the months of March and April. On the face of it, 41 journeys — some 17% of th( charts checked — breached the time restrictions by over 15 minutes, but he was not i a position to say which opera ing centre the vehicles had been using. There was only one occasion on which he coi specifically say that a vehicle had left Toftshaw Lane outsi the laid-down times, and thai had been without the company's knowledge.

Director and transport mai ger Michael Morrissey said t whole of the Bradford operation involved the movement motor components for Hepworth & Grandage. The only time the vehicles went to To shaw Lane was for maintenance, refuelling or for washing. He accepted there had been three occasions wh a vehicle had arrived late at Toftshaw Lane after being II( up in the traffic but no more than four or five vehicles parked overnight.
Making no direction, Horn asked that the company mak. every effort to satisfy the co ditions in the future.
