Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Ralph Hilton Group, which asked for a temporary suspension of the Stock Exchange quotation on its shares in July this year (CM July 28), is to return to the Stock Market next month.

At the time of the suspension there was an investigation by Peat Marwick Mitchell and Co, independent auditors, and the company's auditors Wilson, Wright and Co. In the intervening six months Peat Marwick Mitchell have been preparing a report on the company's finances and this will be presented to the board of directors of the group shortly.

When the shares were suspended they were standing at 97p and dropped to 38p almost overnight. They are now quoted in the Financial Times index at 33p. Companies in the Hilton Group include Gomm's Transport, Export and General, Bain and Hodge, and Pollock of Musselburgh.

In July one of the group's principal shareholders, the Industrial and Commercial Finance Corporation Ltd was reported to have agreed to provide further substantial facilities to the group if this proved necessary.

Ralph Hilton's own story of the situation appears on page 32.
