The Stewart Motor Corporation, of Buffalo, New York, which is represented in this country by Morgan Hastings, Ltd.,...212„ New King's Road, London, S.W.6, has recently announced the introduction of a new 7-ton chassis, known as Model 27XS. The new model has a number of attractive features and is made in five lengths of wheelbase.

The engine is a six-cylindered unit with a bore of 4g ins. and a stroke of ins., the piston displacement being 517 cubic ins. ; its governed speed is 1,800 r.p.m. Full-pressure lubrication is employed for the engine and an oil cleaner is incorporated, whilst the cooling water is circulated by a centrifugal pump.

The clutch is of the multiple dryplate type and it conveys the drive through an interesting form of transmission, comprising a standard fourspeed gearbox, forming a unit with the engine, and a three-speed auxiliary gearbox mounted amidships, thus giving 12 forward speeds and three reverse. The heavy-duty rear axle is of Timken manufacture and either an overhead worm-driven unit or a double-reduction type can be incorporated. The standard 'wheelbase of this chassis is 13 ft. 9 ins., the additional models having wheelbases of 14 ft. 7 ins., 15 ft. 10 ins., 18 ft. 4 ins. and 19 ft. 7 ins.
