THE basic prices of the new Guy Invincible goods chassis, described on pages 78-81, arc approximately the same as those of the former Invincible models, but higher discount rates apply. For instance, the standard eight-wheeled chassis and cab has a basic price of £3,632, plus purchase. tax.
TIPPER. WITH TWO BODIES
ADENNIS Pax forward-control chassis supplied to the British Soda Co.. Ltd.. has an unusual tipping bodywork arrangement to enable separate loads tO be carried.
Two light alloy side-tipping bodies built by 'Holmes. of• Preston, are -mounted in tandem on the chassis. Each body is provided with individual Edbro-B. and E. two-way side-tipping . hydraulic gear poweredby a six-cYlindered pump and power-take-off of the same man.ufacturc.
A single lever-operated valve situated in the cab controls both sets of gear, tipping the front body when the handle is moved forward and the rear one when the movement is reversed.
LIMITED-STOP SYSTEM CUT
LIMITED-STOP operation by Hull .1—a Transport Department and East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., of motorbuses in Hull is largely to cease as from this week-end. The system began during the war to protect longdistance passengers and applied to routes on which there were also trolleybuses, but it is thought that it is inappropriate today because of smaller loadings.
There will still be limited-stop motorbuses between 4.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, but not Saturdays.
NEW SEDDON PASSENGER MODEL
./-1 A NEW Seddon passenger chassis,
known as the Pennine Mark 19, has been produced.. It is suitable for 41-seat coach or 43-seat bus bodywork. It has an underfloor engine and five-speed synchromesh gearbox. A full description and road-test report will be published next week.
