Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I in the wages dispute with the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., and its subsidiary concerns, regarding the modified terms offered by the employers, has been completed, and has resulted in a majority against the acceptance of the employers' amended

terms. The vote, however, has not yielded the two-thirds majority necessary to permit of strike notices being lodged. The employers offered advances of approximately 2s. a week for the employees. The union, how ever, requested 4s. and many are dissatisfied with the compromise.

The figures were forwarded to London for consideration, last week, by Mr. Arthur Gee, the Scottish passenger-group secretary of the Union. It is thought, however, that a further approach will be made to the S.M.T. directors to reopen negotiations.

A Transfer to " Eastern Counties."

The Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., has taken over the bus service of Messrs. Barker, of Fenstanton. With the exception of the Fenstanton-toHilton service, which will be discontinued, the routes and times will remain unaltered.

RAIL FAILURE TO STOP SERVICE

THE recently inaugurated bus service between Fort William and Glenfmnan, which is operated by Messrs. A. and J. MacPherson, Fort William, and against which an application was made to the Minister of Transport by David MacBrayne, Ltd.. and the L.N.E.R., is to continue. The licence grant to Messrs. MacPherson has been upheld by the Minister of Transport.

It is expected that the service will in the near future be extended to Mallaig.
