Renault does not have a good record in the International Truck of the Year; it has only won twice, the last time 16 years ago with the launch of the seminal Magnum. This year, however, the French truck manufacturer has its best chance in years of taking the big prize with the impressive new Premium. Exterior and interior restyles, new engines and a host of chassis mods add up to a significant new entry into the highly competitive fleet tractor sector. Ride and handling are both exceptional, and all reports from the market so far suggest that the Premium is performing well in service.
VERDICT The Premium gives Renault a serious chance of breaking its Truck of the Year droughtit's a close call.
