TRANSPORT Parliamentar Secretary Kenneth Clarke gc first-hand experience of th problems of bus operation last week when he toured th Eastern National area wit National Bus Compan chairman Lord Shepherd.

Mr Clarke's tour of EastE National depots took in Ba: don and Chelmsford.

In Chelmsford, Easte National's hq, Mr Clarke v shown the central worksh< and training school befc driver Roy Hippie took party, which included N regional director Irwin Dalt to North Weald airfield to driver training in action.

Then it was on to Bre wood garage and to Grays pot of London Country, wh the Minister met Lonc Country managing direc Derek Fytche for a tour of garage and a description some of the repair problE the company faces.

Mr Fytche revealed t some of the Leyland Nati( vehicles in dock had b, waiting for parts for sev, years.
