year, U.K. oil consumption totalled 25,705,606 tons, and the demand for dery fuel increased 8.1% to 1,497,956 tons, according to figures published by the Petrol Information Bureau. Oil consumption was over two and a half million tons higher than in the corresponding period of last year—an increase of 11.1%. Motor spirit deliveries rose by 4.4%, but whereas those to dealers were 6.1% higher, deliveries to commercial consumers, following the trend of recent years, declined by 3.6%.
