MOUNTED on A.E.C., LeyIVIland, Daimler and Dennis chassis, 11 bodies (five double-deck and six singledeck) have recently been built by Park Royal Coachworks, Ltd., Abbey Road, Park Royal, London, N.W.10, to the order of Belfast Corporation. The double-deck bodies seat 52 passengers, and are of composite construction, the framework being of wood, reinforced with steel flitch plates to give adequate strength at necessary points.

In addition to an emergency drop window on the upper deck, an emergency door is provided at the off side of the lower saloon, and is equipped ',vitt) a safety chain, so that, should

it be accidentally opened, it will open for only a few inches. This opening is, however, sufficient to allow of the chain being removed ir-Om the outside in case of emergency.

Stainless-steel tubular seats are fitted and are equipped with spherical grab handles. Upholstery is of leather on a base of Dunlop latex, the cushions being equipped with springs in the rubber recesses.

Permanent ventilation is provided • for the lower deck and Young halfdrop windows are fitted to alternate windows in bath saloons. The windows of the upper compartment have stainless-steel guard rails. The stairs have Ferodo treads and a step light is provided for each stair.

Lighting is by means of neat pillar lamps, the entrance platform having a light recessed into the back panel, in addition to the usual roof light. The number plate and stop light are reeessed into the hack 'panel and illuminated from behind. A full-width rear bumper is provided, and along each side of the body is a stainlesssteel lifeguard.

The single-deck bodies seat $3 passengers, and are similarly equipped. A feature of interest is the use of the Peters pneumatic door, normally operated by the driver ; an emergency . handle is, however, provided. inside and outside for manual operation of the door in case of emergency.
